The End of an Era: Rec Room Is Shutting Down
For nearly a decade, Rec Room was more than just a game. It was a place where millions of players learned to create, met lifelong friends, hosted events, built communities, and turned simple ideas into entire worlds.
On March 30th, 2026, Rec Room announced that the platform would permanently shut down on June 1st, 2026. Schools Out for Rec Room Blog Post
For creators across the platform, the news felt unreal.
For us at Club Sandwich, it marks the end of a huge chapter in our creative journey.
More Than Just a Build Team
Although Club Sandwich has only officially released a handful of rooms and events as a team, the people behind it have been part of Rec Room’s creative community for years.
Long before Club Sandwich became an organized team, many of our members were already building rooms, competing in contests, experimenting with new creation tools, and contributing to the community that made Rec Room special.
Rec Room gave creators opportunities that almost didn’t exist anywhere else. You could go from building your first small room to participating in official contests, collaborating with other creators, hosting community events, or even helping shape the future of the platform itself.
That creative energy is what inspired Club Sandwich in the first place.
Some of Our Projects
Over time, Club Sandwich worked on a variety of experiences, events, and contest entries that represented different parts of the Rec Room creative scene.

What Happens Next?
Right now, we honestly do not know exactly where Club Sandwich will go next.
We’ve explored different engines, platforms, and technologies, but no single platform has fully replaced what made Rec Room special. What mattered most was never just the game itself it was the ability to create experiences with friends and share them with a community that genuinely cared.
That’s something we still want to continue doing.
Whether that future ends up in another UGC platform, a standalone game, VR, web, or something entirely different, our goal remains the same:
Create amazing experiences for people.
Rec Room may be shutting down, but the creativity it inspired is not disappearing.
The Legacy of Rec Room
Rec Room introduced an entire generation of creators to game design, 3D art, level design, events, social experiences, and online collaboration.
For many people, it was their first experience creating something others could actually play.
Entire communities, careers, friendships, and teams were built because of this platform.
Club Sandwich is one of many groups that exists because Rec Room gave creators a chance.
And while the servers may eventually go offline, the memories, skills, and creativity built there will continue long after.
Thank You
To everyone who played our rooms, attended events, collaborated with us, competed alongside us, or simply supported what we created over the years:
Thank you.
This is not the end of Club Sandwich.
It’s simply the beginning of whatever comes next.
